Genesis Be is a critically acclaimed poet, peace activist and artist from Biloxi, Mississippi. She often uses theatrical protest during her live performances to bring attention to both global and localized issues surrounding racial justice, the peace movement, queer visibility, and gender equity. She creates original paintings, poetry, and music under her ever-growing collection, People Not Things. She’s best known for her efforts to remove the confederate emblem from the Mississippi state flag which, due to collaborative efforts, was changed in 2021. She splits her time between Biloxi, MS and Georgia where she lives with her black lab, Kato The Potato.
